October~out of the fast lane

Fall is here.
Tourists have returned home, gone back to their lives elsewhere, returned to their routines, put their kids back in school.
Our fishing business has slowed to a crawl, and all the bait eggs are processed and put to rest in the freezer. How satisfying to see them frozen solid, sealed in bags and away from my nose. That smell takes 8 months to forget.


Now is the time to add things back into our lives. Seeing friends and taking care of chores tossed aside are now our new "to do"s. For me, the Community Choir starting up again has added sparkle and pizazz to my week. My brain cells need the challenge,and I know learning songs in several languages is just what I need. Two years ago, we weren't sure if we'd have further times together to sing with our same choir director. The good news is that he's back, and he's decided to take on a huge project. Our adult choir will be added to the high school group, touring this spring to Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. Awesome. The hubby wants to come too, and we'll stay after the choir tour, (Lord willing), and visit friends while there, seeing a bit more of Europe, while on that side of the world.
Thursday night's rehearsals will be our place to prepare. Pieces of Bach, Mozart, Dvorak, Beethoven, Haydn & Schubert lead the way, while a bit of jazz/pop, Americana, and Spirituals will add variety and spice. Seeing former friends return, and new friends begin with the group, will complete each rehearsal's pleasure.


This past Saturday, I had the privilege of helping put together an elegant 5 course meal, to benefit the local food pantry. It was held at a beautiful home, just up the street from us, with a fabulous view and gracious hosts. This is a small memory album put together from the day of the event. Prepping the meal and serving 50 people was a huge project, but it flawlessly came together as a dance with rhythms paced perfectly. I was so happy to be a part!
