As the vivid colors of fall fade away, our landscape is covered in a blanket of snow and ice. After the treat of golds, yellow and red hues, it is quite a shock to relinquish them for the muted shades of winter. Daylight hours are diminished and the sun shines in our southern exposed windows, at an increased angle. Tonight it is a nippy 17 degrees.
These are contrasting views from the same side of our yard. Everything is settling into the hibernation mode, for the next five months.
