The cabin sits up on a knoll, 3/4 of a mile from where we parked our cars. "M" buzzed ahead in her snowmachine, carrying one of her sled dogs home from a vet appointment.

The view from the beautiful log home is captivating, with a clear view for miles in each direction. Outside to the northwest sat multiple doghouses, enough for their 40 sled dogs. With 30 of them in Anchorage on Saturday, with "M"'s husband, we didn't get the full-on effect of 40 dogs outside our luncheon get-together. But, a reliable neighbor spoke of the usual quiet nature of the dogs, only getting loud when they prepared to go out for the day's sledding, or if another animal entered their area.

Delicious soups, appetizing salads, chewy breads and rich cheeses soothed our hearty appetites. These are women who enjoy every bite. (believe me!)
Back on the trail, we ventured out in search of an igloo, built earlier in the winter, by hands of a builder himself. Once we happened upon it, all that was left of it was the lower portion, collapsed by winter's bitter wind and a warm interlude.
Now warmed by soup in our belly and an enthusiastic metabolism, we shed over-jackets and neck gaiters, to boogie on back towards our cars.

A quick dessert detour, to good friend and neighbor "C"'s, ended our Valentine Day afternoon with sweet-tooth contentment.
